There’s something rather appealing about furniture that looks as though it has a history. The Old Workshop Chest of Drawers takes its inspiration from the practical cabinets once found in workshops, storerooms and old-fashioned merchants’ premises, where everything had its place and furniture was made to be useful.
Its tall, slender shape holds five characterful drawers, each bringing something a little different to the piece. The three upper drawers have a darker finish and traditional-style label holders, reminiscent of an old filing or apothecary cabinet. Below, two deeper drawers introduce warm geometric timber detailing and substantial dark metal handles.
The contrasting woods, aged-effect finishes and industrial touches give it the feel of a piece gathered over time rather than something overly polished or pristine. And, despite all that character, it remains wonderfully practical.
